We, 80 students of Landscape Architecture from 16 countries throughout Europe, have come together in Portugal at the invitation of the APEAP (Associação Portuguesa dos Estudantes de Arquitectura Paisagista), in March '90.
Through working together and discussing our various situations, we have come to realise the need to form an Association of European Landscape Architecture Students, with the priority of:
INCREASING THE POSSIBILITIES FOR COLLABORATION AND EXCHANGE OF STUDENTS OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE THROUGHOUT EUROPE, BY MEANS OF IMPROVING THE CIRCULATION OF INFORMATION AND IDEAS;
AGRANDIR LES POSSIBILITES DE COLLABORATION ET D'ECHANGES ENTRE LES ETUDIANTS EN ARCHITECTURE DU PAYSAGE A TRAVERS L'EUROPE ET POUR AMELIORER LA CIRCULATION DE L'INFORMATION ET DES IDEES;
AUSBAU DER MÖGLICHKEITEN DER ZUSAMMENARBEIT UND DES STUDENTENAUSTAUSCHES ZWISCHEN STUDENTEN DER LANDSCHAFTSARCHITEKTUR IN GANZ EUROPA DURCH EINE VERBESSERUNG DES INFORMATIONS- UND IDEENAUSTAUSCHES.
One representative from each country was elected for the meeting, to facilitate communication. These representatives would also be responsible for the circulation of information collected at this meeting for their own country.
For this meeting, it was decided to divide into four main discussion groups:
It was consequently felt that it was necessary to hold another meeting as soon as possible. It was decided that each representative for their country would collect and send information to Hungary, regarding the feasability of a next meeting being held in their country. This information will be sent by the 1st June 1990. Having evaluated this information the Hungarian representative would decide upon the location and date of the next meeting. The initial proposals for the next meeting's agenda were four discussion groups already mentioned.
As long as there hasn't been made a decision about the setting up of an information network, about foreign education, education exchange and working abroad in landscape architecture, all the collected information and the questionaire will be sent to the Netherlands.
In order to create a future European Association other student structures at local or national level are needed in countries, in order to have at the next meeting a real representative power.
